Watch Me Grow

Oh could there be anything better than seeing how much your children have grown, it is actually amazing how quickly it happens.  My kids love to get measured.

  This time I have made two different Height charts, one for a little princess who turned one.  And one for my niece and nephew who have moved and now have room to put one up.  

For the numbers I like to go up by 2 inches so that it doesn't feel to cluttered.  I finished it off with a few fun flowers on each end. 

For this one I wanted to make it gender neutral so I went with a simple design using black lettering and no extra decals.  

The thing I like about these movable growth charts is that it doesn't matter if you have to re-paint or you move you can always take it with you.  Trust me I have made the mistake of doing this on the wall and then moving and having to leave behind.   

End Of Year Teacher Appreciation Gift

Wow another year has come and gone and my little man is not so little anymore.  With his last day of grade 2 tomorrow we are excited for the summer to begin but we had a blast this year.  His teachers have been great and he has learned so many new things.

Our teachers work so hard so at the end of the year I love to give them a little gift of appreciation, you know since they see them more than we do.

This year I thought I would put together a little beach bag with all the essentials. I found a cute little bag and then added a towel, magazine and a custom water bottle.  

       

 Keegan sat down with me and picked out the colors and the vinyl decal he thought would be best for each teacher. 

Although I know it is just a small gift for all their hard work I hope they enjoy it.

Entry To Playhouse

This playhouse just shows you that you don't need a extravagant building or a tree to build it in.  We live in town so our yards are not that big but we have a raised deck and decided to make the most of it.  1/3 of the space under the deck is dedicated to the playhouse and the rest for storage.  We found this little window a few years ago when we were first building this and my husband made the miniature size door.   I also love the fact that the kids can have their very own spot to plant their flowers so we made them a flower bed. It is our tradition that we go to the greenhouse and the kids can pick whichever plants they want to put in there.

  

At Easter time Wal-mart had all these fantastic metal buckets and mailboxes out so I picked this one up and put it in my playhouse stash.  Then I added vinyl to it to make it a little more customized.   

Bench Before & After

This bench was made to go into the playhouse by my kids grandfather for Christmas this past year.  They left it with natural wood because they were unsure of my vision at that time.

 I started by painted the edges of the bench in a dark grey color and topped it off with a white coat of paint.  Once the paint was dry I sanded off the edges to give it an antiqued look.  I finished this piece off by adding the vinyl Storage sticker to the front in a bright red.

Bedroom Makeover

When my little man was moving into his big boy bed I figured it was time for a change.  So it called for a fresh coat of paint, a new bed, and a toy box.  I am in love with Ana White with her plans it makes it so easy to create that perfect piece of furniture.  I decided Red would be a nice accent color and the fabrics I used to make pillows are fun and playful but didn't want them to match.  The bird sign above the window was painted the same red as the dresser and finished off with vinyl birds.

Subway Art

This was such a fun project. I had a scrap piece of wood in the garage and bought some nice trim to make a frame.  

The fun part was figuring out which words I wanted and how to place them to all fit.  I have a vinyl business so I had lots of vinyl color options to pick from.  This piece went in my sons room and I just love it. 

Crazy Tuesday

 Well today was supposed to be a day of errands and relaxation as I was going to have a day off, but life has a way of throwing you a curve ball.  Instead my youngest son Makai got sick throughout the night and kept it up through the day.  So I ended up staying home and getting some much needed cleaning and projects done.  And a little big of organization.  I love to label things I just find it so much easier to find what I am looking for.  So while my little man slept I got a few things labeled.

Dollar Store Find

Today I had the rare opportunity to go to the dollar store with no children, which allowed me to go up and down every aisle and take my time.  I came across these fantastic hooks for $1.25, they perfect for an upcoming project I am doing.  When we built our deck we made a portion of the underside into a playhouse but have yet to finish the inside.  After telling the kids for the past 3 years we would do it this if finally the year.  I have starting my collections of little bits of things to go in and thought these hooks would work great.  I am creating a craft section for the kids and plan to use these hooks and then hang the bucks on them for all their craft supplies.  

I found these buckets at wal-mart for $1.50 each and added my personal touch of vinyl to them with words for the big kids and pictures for the younger monkeys.
