Framed Magnetic Board

Well this little project has been sitting half done for about a year if not longer and as I am going through my house trying to get all my projects done this one was first on my list.

My brother was clearing out his collection of metal sheets and was kind enough to pass one on my direction. This is what the little beauty looked like when I got it.  I decided to keep it as is and just spray it with a top coat to seal in the rust so it wouldn't transfer onto the fabric.

Before wrapping and gluing the fabric to the magnet board I used cardboard on the edges to make sure that the fabric would not get ripped.  Then I simply started to tuck and glue the fabric to make it nice and tight.

Once it was all wrapped we used molding to frame it out and added a backing to finish it off.

It is a fun way to have an organization board or a place to put pictures on.

Office Closet Makeover

I am really starting to love having my very own room that is totally away from everyone else.  Even better all of my crafts that have been spread throughout the house in various places are finally located in one room.  Moving my little man back upstairs has really had its perks.

Before I could even start to organize the main room I had to get in here and work out this mess.  When we moved rooms around everything was just thrown in here and I am sure most of you know what it is like to work around a room full of things.  Kinda like having kids in the room, everything takes twice as long.

No I am not a hoarder I just happen to have a whole lot of crafts.  This is a little before view of the mess I was dealing with. I know its not pretty.

With a fresh coat of white paint I wanted to add a little color back in so I used my mass amount of boxes and gave them a coat of paint to give a little pop of color. A little downsizing and some organization sure can change a space.

The rest of the room is coming along nicely I can finally walk into the room without tripping on something, or without having to move two or three things to get to my computer. I was also given a nice addition by my mother in-law that I can't wait to share.

Organizing The Kiddies

Well it is that time of year again where we scramble to get into routine and figure out what direction we need to be going in.  Every year I struggle to keep track and every year it just gets busier with school and extra curricular activities for three kids it gets a little crazy.

This year I found these framed cork boards at the dollar store for $3.00, so how is a girl to say no.
Each one of the boys has their own calender which has their school activities and their after school activities with times on them.

They also each have a homework chart which they fill up to earn little prizes out of the prize bucket.  My little man who started Kindergarten this year just can't get enough of homework he just wants his apples all filled up.  I love it and hope that this attitude sticks around for years to come.

I found this cute little do your best. Printable over at Kiki Creates and thought it was perfect for the board.

So here is hoping we can keep organized for another year, what are some of your tips to keeping your families schedules straight.

I loved it so much I made on of my Own

That right I thought this was just too darn cute and what a great way to help me organize my life a little bit more.

All this is is Cork glued in the inside of your cabinet and then made to look pretty and functional.

The Birthday Calendar is one of my favorite things, I am horrible with remembering when everyone's birthday is and keeping it close at hand makes it a little easier.
I found the oval printable at Creature Comforts

My other favorite part is the ice cream cone printable that I found at Alana Lee Designs.  I use these as a reward chart for my children.  Our kids get an allowance but it keeping up with them actually doing chores or not has been a little bit hard.  So instead for each chore, good deed or a positive comment from school they get an x on their cones.  For my little guy he will get one if he goes to the bathroom on the potty.  Once they hit the top of one cone they can pick out a small toy out of the bin (dollar store toys).  If they fill all the cones they get their allowance.  So far it has been working 4 chores done on the first day, that is a record.

Now I can't post this without sharing my inspiration with you as it is pretty incredible.  Angie @ Echoes of Laughter made this with all of her favorite recipes so they were easy to get to.  I think I may just have to do this with my recipes to one day.

Garage Entry Part 2 ~ Keeping Organized

If you are like me you have a family who is always on the go and sometimes it is hard to keep track of everything.  I was finding I could fit everyones events on one calender so I decided to make make each one of them a custom dry erase calender.

These are so easy to do, I found these inexpensive pictures frames and then picked out some two different colors of scrapbook paper that I cut to fit.

I printed out the twelves months x3 for each of them and stuck them on using velcro to make it easy to change and then customized them with each child's name.

Once it is all together you simply use a dry erase felt and write on the glass.  Cleans easy in order to change out each month.

I am already starting to feel a little more organized : )

Spice Love

I have a new love for my spice cabinet.  It used to be one of those doors you opened and had to pull out half of the jars just to find the one you wanted.  Or on more than one occasion the toothpick jar would fall out as we were shuffling through it and add an extra element of 52 pick up.  Not so much fun.  I am sure that a few of you can agree with me you have been there before.

Okay don't scream, try not to look away but here is the before.

Pretty scary, how does a person function with this mess.

I hit up the local dollar store and found some great options for organizing this mess.

So Much Better

I picked up this great three tear rack at our local Canadian Tire store on sale for $3.00 and then I found these spice jars at the dollar store 3 for $1.00.  These cute labels were made on my photoshop program and then printed on sticker labels.

I also grabbed these bins from the dollar store for $1.50 each to put all the extra baking and spices in.  This way I can just grab the entire bin down and have easy access to all my goodies.

This is way better and I love opening up the door now and seeing how cute and organized it is.

This gives me hope that one day my pantry can look this good.

Crazy Tuesday

Well today was supposed to be a day of errands and relaxation as I was going to have a day off, but life has a way of throwing you a curve ball.  Instead my youngest son Makai got sick throughout the night and kept it up through the day.  So I ended up staying home and getting some much needed cleaning and projects done.  And a little big of organization.  I love to label things I just find it so much easier to find what I am looking for.  So while my little man slept I got a few things labeled.
