I am Loving Red

I know I know I have slacked off something horrible.  With summer break coming to an end I am hoping to be more on track with my blogging.  Tomorrow is the first day back for my not so little man as he enters into the big Grade 2.  I am pretty sure I am more excited than him, I figured once we dropped off his school supplies today he would be a little more excited but not so much.

Last year I had seen on another blog a credenza and I told my husband I must have one of those.  I searched Kijiji and found this fantastic credenza for $50.00.  My husband thought it was so ugly and way to heavy but he brought it home anyway.

It has sat in my basement for a little while waiting to be love and finally it got its face lift.

Picking the color was the hard part, first I painted it a white but it just didn't do it justice.  Once I started working on the rest of the room and changing wall colors there was no question that red was the perfect choice.  There are some nice chrome pieces on the bottom of the credenza so I picked up these handles to match.  Next thing is to accessorize the top, which of course is my favorite part.

Hope you enjoy and are all having a fantastic week.

Kitchen Table Makeover

I was lucky enough to be given this table by a good friend of mine.  She thought I could use it for a craft table or something for out in the garage.  I don't think so, this is too nice to just stick in a corner.  I just love how the wood goes in all the different directions it just adds a little  more character to it.  I decided to go outside of my comfort zone a little bit and stain it, I have tried in the past with staining and usually end up having my husband finish the project or fix my mistakes.

Yeap the before is not so pretty but I could see her potential.  Look at that fantastic pattern on top.

The after, it turned out pretty darn good.  There are a few flaws but I won't point them out, lol.

The friend that gave me this table is moving away to what seems like a million miles away, in Australia.  I am glad that I will have this and everyday I see it I will remember her and what an incredible friend she has been to me.

Bench Before & After

This bench was made to go into the playhouse by my kids grandfather for Christmas this past year.  They left it with natural wood because they were unsure of my vision at that time.

I started by painted the edges of the bench in a dark grey color and topped it off with a white coat of paint.  Once the paint was dry I sanded off the edges to give it an antiqued look.  I finished this piece off by adding the vinyl Storage sticker to the front in a bright red.

Hope you Enjoy!

Dresser Makeover

I just love it when you find exactly what you are looking for.  I had a vision of what I wanted and just happened to be on a second hand website and came across this set for $75.00.  I love the look of this dresser and nightstand, the curves in the legs and the slight detail in the drawers.  The top of the dresser had paint chipped off of it and the detail was painted in a gold which is just not my color.

The Handles have pretty detail but again the gold is just not my thing

Dresser ~ Mirror still needs to be put on

The handles were repainted white and then a touch of color was added

All the detail was highlighted with the robins egg blue
