Framed Magnetic Board

Well this little project has been sitting half done for about a year if not longer and as I am going through my house trying to get all my projects done this one was first on my list.

My brother was clearing out his collection of metal sheets and was kind enough to pass one on my direction. This is what the little beauty looked like when I got it.  I decided to keep it as is and just spray it with a top coat to seal in the rust so it wouldn't transfer onto the fabric.

Before wrapping and gluing the fabric to the magnet board I used cardboard on the edges to make sure that the fabric would not get ripped.  Then I simply started to tuck and glue the fabric to make it nice and tight.

Once it was all wrapped we used molding to frame it out and added a backing to finish it off.

It is a fun way to have an organization board or a place to put pictures on.

Teacher Gifts

12 Days Of Christmas ~ Day 8

Our teachers work so hard daily to mold and teach our children, they are hard working and dedicated and deserve a little something for all their work.

Each one of our teachers got a popcorn bowl which I added the vinyl popcorn to.  The kids and me made them some yummy sugar cookies that we put into the tins and added popcorn bags and popcorn seasoning.

Quick and Easy Christmas Dinner Salad

12 Days of Christmas ~ Day 7

Growing up this was a salad that our family had at Christmas just about every year.  It is quick and easy and you can make it in advance.  I actually suggest you make it at least one day in advance as the dressing marinates and makes it so much yummier.

Ingredients You Will Need

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Radishes
Green Onions
2 Cans Whole Mushrooms
Italian Dressing

I make a big family sized bowl of salad and mix up all your yummy veggies and then I use about 3/4 of a bottle of dressing.  You can add more or less depending on what you like.  Let it sit for at least one day.

Strawberry Shortcake

This week my sweet little niece has turned 5 years old and it is hard to believe she is growing up so quickly.  She was born a tiny 4lbs 12oz little peanut and I was honored 5 years ago to be there when she was born and when she took her first breath.

This weekend we celebrated her birthday and in true girly spirit she picked a strawberry shortcake theme for her birthday.  When I was asked to make her a cake how could I possibly say no.  With three boys it is not very often that I get to do a fun girly cake.

She was super excited about her cake and kept telling everyone that her auntie was going to make her strawberry shortcake cake for her birthday.  I am so glad to be part of her special day.

Feather and Stamp Ornament

12 Days of Christmas ~ Day #5

Wow the time is ticking down and there isn't too long until the big day gets here.

Back in November Amy over at One Artsy Mama asked if anyone wanted to do an ornament exchange.  Well for a girl who loves Christmas and anything that comes with it I said yes.

So I came up with these glass ornament balls filled with feathers and topped off with a hand stamped hope washer.

Earlier this year my hubby had acquired an alphabet letter stamp set at an auction for me and this project was my times getting some good use out of it.

Thank you to Amy for organizing this ornament exchange it has been fun to do and to see what others have come up with.  If you want to check out all the other projects be sure to pop over to One Artsy Mama.

Gingerbread Houses

12 Days Of Christmas ~ Day #4

In my house it wouldn't be Christmas without the tradition of making gingerbread houses.  It is one of my boys favorite things and they look forward to it every year.  This year instead of using graham cookies I thought I would make the real deal.  I found a gingerbread house cookie cutter at Michaels.

This part really turned out to be half of the fun for the boys and made this process take a few days.  We found our recipe off of Simply Recipes.

Once we had the gingerbread pieces all baked and iced together it was time to get to the good part, Decorating.

For me it is really fun to watch how their gingerbread houses progress through the years.

Office/Craft Room Makeover

I can't believe it has taken me so long to share with you my office makeover.  I have decided I am a ADD Crafter.  I start a project and need something from a different room and then get to the room and start a different project.  It is a major problem for me, hmmm I wonder if they have help for this.  Anyways I finally finished and then got around to taking some pictures so I thought I better share before something else comes up.

I have never been a blue person when it comes to paint on my walls but I am loving this dark blue I used.

Prior to this becoming my very own space it was my sons bedroom. After a little shifting in the house I finally have a space all my own.

I Kept it simple with the artwork and added some pictures from our recent trips to Australia & Aruba

Do you remember the lamp I refaced well here is her final home.  You can check out her before and after here

I had this light upstairs in the room I moved my son to and fear for its life it had to make it's way downstairs to this room.  Plus it didn't really go with a boy room.

Dresser Before
I re-painted this dresser and side table before but decided in this room I wanted something a little more girly.  Frankly I am surrounded by boys so this corral wouldn't go over well in really any other room.

Computer Desk Before

The computer Desk also got a facelift

One of my favorite things in this room is this Antique Singer sewing machine which my husband rescued from his mother.

I found this fantastic World Map online and the thing I liked about it was that it had more brown tones to it.

Okay isn't this the cutest little oil can you have ever seen.  It was hiding in one of the drawers of the sewing machine.

So there you have it, do you like it as much as I do.
