Fantastic Long Weekend & A Sigh of Relief

This weekend marked my families annual camping trip which was filled with a lot of fun, laughs and a few tears.  In total we had 11 kids and 10 adults.  We filled our days with rafting, fishing, dirt biking, and telling stories.

Although on our first day down at the river it starting out perfectly all the boys and Granny and Grandpa were headed down the river for some rafting fun.  I seen them off and then headed off down the path to run and grab my camera from the vehicle.  When I got back I started to take some pictures and then I did my 5 minute head count.  1,2... No Three. Makai my 2 year old was missing.  My dad said he turned for 2 minutes and he was gone.  Within second every adult with us and about 25 more bystanders were on a search for him.  I was absolutely beside myself and after about 10 minutes I just broke down.  It was probably the worst 10 minutes of my entire life.  Just then they came around the corner.  The little monkey had decided he wanted to go rafting again and went back up the path by himself.  By the time my dad had found him he was almost at the beginning of the path which was a long way up.  Makes you re-evaluate a little bit after something like that happens.  I am so happy that when you are in a crisis moment how many people will jump in and help you no matter what.

Once we were able to get over that the rest of the weekend was filled with a lot of fun.

We were lucky this year that we had a tap for the sprinkler just across from our campsite for a little slip 'n slide fun.

In our family even the big kids join in the fun

One of the sandy areas had this incredible mud pit that the kids had so much fun playing in.  They even got to have a little mud fight with grandpa.

I hope everyone else had a good time this weekend.

What a great weekend! But how scary when you couldn't find your little guy! I remember when Nola was about 3, she accidentally walked away with another family while we were at the zoo...I guess from her level, the family looked just like ours and didn't notice until she reached for "my" hand and realized it wasn't me...so scary for both of us! Makes you want to hug them tight and keep them close to you always.

Looks like your family knows how to have some serious fun!! I am so glad you all had a great weekend!
